Kindergarten Preparation!
The Kindergarten teachers have been working
hard this
summer to prepare for our upcoming school year!
Mrs. Ramaker attended
a week-long conference learning all about the new Common Core Standards for
Kindergarten Math. Mrs. Stapel attended a 6-day conference learning more about
how children learn to read, and what we should be expecting of readers
throughout the Kindergarten year. The entire Kindergarten team spent time
training at OES in July learning to improve our Readers Workshop program; making
sure that we are not only meeting kids at their reading level, but also
challenging them to read more difficult texts.
We will provide much more
information on the Common Core Standards, and our Readers and Writers Workshop
expectations in upcoming blog posts.
